EXOTIC X MODERN: French Art Deco and inspiration from afar

This exhibition, through a collection of 85 objects, explores the influence of the exotic on the modern Art Deco movement in France. Prints (posters), sculptures, jewelry, clothing, photographs, paintings, and decorative objects are presented to demonstrate the influence of “exotic” foreign lands in Africa and Asia on Art Deco design. Highlights include lacquer pieces by Jean Dunand and sculptures by François Pompon.

Walls that Talk: Stories from the Former Prince Asaka Residence

If you haven’t visited the Teien Art Museum, you’re missing out. It’s a gorgeous Art Deco residence surrounded by a beautiful garden. This exhibition tells the stories about the house’s former residents, including Prince Asaka and his family. While the previous Decoration never dies, anyway used the museum as a creative exhibition space, Walls that Talk allows the visitor to see the house as it was furnished and lived in.

Featuring the works of seven diverse artists, this exhibition ranges from laser cut metal to unique clothing to paintings of carpet designs. Every room brings a new discovery on the theme of decoration. The artists were selected from a variety of nationalities and backgrounds.
